Tip #1: Pay attention to the load centre

Every lift has a specified centre of gravity and maximum load capacity. If you stay below the limits of the load centre and capacity, there will be less chances of a tip.

Tip #2: Be mindful of the size of the load and its distance from the tyres

The closer the load is to the front tyres, the less likely you are to tip. It may be able to handle a 2 tonne load placed close to the tyres, but if you move the load forward, your chance of tipping increases.

Tip #3: Place the load properly on the forklift

When driving, loads can shift and if the load is wider than the forklift, tipping becomes a bigger threat.

Tip #4: Drive carefully

Go slowly around sharp turns when carrying a load. Even if the load is perfectly placed, a sharp turn can shift a load and throw it from its centre of gravity, causing the forklift to tip.

By following these suggestions, you’ll ensure your work environment remains safe for everyone and reduce the chances of your forklift tipping. In addition to these tips, always be sure to use the technology safety features available to you on your forklift for added assurance.
